Project Detail

·

Project Overview

• Design Electrical (dual power feeds, N+1 or 2N generators and UPS, battery systems, Power Distribution Units-PDUs, earthing); mechanical (precision cooling, chilled-water plant, hot/cold-aisle containment); fire protection (very early smoke detection, FM200 suppression system); monitoring (BMS and power monitoring for Power Usage Effectiveness-PUE tracking)
• Installation: Installation with clean-room discipline and strict method statements
• Testing & Commissioning: Level 1–5 commissioning, full-load heat testing and failover (black-start) tests

Scope

MEP Engineering Consultancy and Contracting

Outcome

KEY CHALLENGES; • No downtime was allowed, thus every system required redundancy. • High heat density from IT equipment. • Need for low energy use and a good PUE. SOLUTION: • Concurrently maintainable power and cooling design. • Hot/cold-aisle containment and free-cooling where conditions allowed. • Integrated systems testing to prove failover before go-live. OUTCOME: • Delivered with all redundancy tests passed. • Target PUE of ~1.3 -1.5 was achieved (Industry standard). • Facility ready for client IT load on schedule.
